4th quarter collapse sinks Sunbirds at BYUH

LAIE, Hawaii - Fresno Pacific led for much of the game, but a fourth quarter collapse doomed the team's chances as the Sunbirds (2-12, 0-8 PacWest) started off their Hawaii road trip with an 82-71 PacWest loss.

FPU led 58-53 at the end of the third quarter and 65-59 with five minutes left in the game, but the Seasiders would outscore the Sunbirds 23-6 over the final five minutes.

Hannah Ramirez had a monster game for the Sunbirds, grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds from the guard position and scoring a team-high 15 points. Megan Lee and Daeja Gilmer added 14 points apiece. Gilmer, who scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half, recorded a career high.

Riley Mew returned to action for the Sunbirds after missing time due to injury, totaling six points and a team-high four assists in 16 minutes of play.

The Seasiders (6-6, 3-4 PacWest) got 19 points from Celeste Claw as BYUH completed a season sweep of the Sunbirds.

FPU out-shot BYUH 45% to 38% but turned the ball over 20 times and shot just 47% from the free-throw line.

FPU continues the road trip on Saturday, facing Chaminade in Honolulu.
