Fresno Pacific dropped the series finale to #15 Azusa Pacific 3-0 on Saturday. The Sunbirds (15-8, 6-6), however, took three-of-four games from the Cougars to earn the series win.
The Cougars (17-7, 7-5) got a great start from Wyatt Wood limited FPU to only two hits in seven innings of work and struck out 10. Closer Josh Grajeda picked up a two-inning save and allowed one hit with four strikeouts.
Michael Tittle finished 2-for-4 for FPU, while
Baron Bower added the team's lone other hit.
Preston Scott was 0-for-3, ending a 16-game hit streak.
Eian Raeber took the loss despite a quality six innings of work, giving up two runs (one earned) and striking out five.
FPU hosts Cal State East Bay in a three-game series beginning next Friday, March 20, at 6 p.m.
