Sunbirds run into talented ARTU squad

SAN FRANCISCO - Hannah Ramirez scored a season-high 16 points and Daeja Gilmer and Alex Green added 11 apiece but Fresno Pacific was unable to overcome 26 turnovers in a 95-67 loss at Academy of Art on Saturday.

The Sunbirds (2-8, 0-4 PacWest) came out strong and were tied 15-15 with the talented Urban Knights (9-5, 4-0 PacWest) at the end of the first quarter, but it was all ARTU from that point on.

Taylor Caspers added nine points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Zoie Sheng scored a game-high 22 points for ARTU. Sha'Nice Storey added 21.

FPU was out-rebounded 46-30 in the loss.

The Sunbirds are back in action after the new year, hosting Hawaii Pacific on January 5.
