Breanna Mackenzie poured in 27 points for Hawaii Pacific as the visiting Sharks defeated FPU 79-57 on Tuesday night.
Taylor Caspers led the Sunbirds with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jasmine Shedrick added 11 points and
Taylor Martin finished with 10.
Hannah Ramirez dished out a team-high five assists.
HPU closed out the first quarter on a 15-7 run to go up 25-16 and would distance themselves by outscoring FPU 17-8 in the second quarter.
It was an aggressive game that featured 49 fouls between the two teams. FPU committed 24 turnovers in the loss as the Sunbirds dropped to 2-9, 0-5 in PacWest play.
HPU improved to 7-4, 4-0 in the PacWest with the win.
The Sunbirds return to action Thursday night, hosting BYU-Hawaii at 5:30 pm.
