OAKLAND, Calif. - FPU swept a doubleheader at Holy Names on Saturday, extending the team's win streak to 11 games and improving to 30-16, 18-10 in PacWest play. After an offensive explosion of 25 runs yesterday, the Sunbirds got strong pitching performances from Drew Merlo and Eian Raeber to complete the sweep.

Merlo went seven innings in game one, giving up two runs and striking out six before giving way to Josh Medeles, who worked out of a jam and earned a two-inning save. Raeber was nearly untouchable in game two, tossing a complete-game one-hitter and giving up just an unearned run. McKay France led the Sunbirds with three total hits on the day.

"I'm very proud of this team," said head coach Oscar Hirschkorn. "We've maintained our focus and come together as a team, and we've started to pick each other up. When our pitching wasn't as sharp as usual, our offense picked us up. Today our pitching really picked us up while the offense eventually came around. Now we need to carry this momentum into Utah to finish out the season."

The Hawks fell to 19-31 overall, 9-23 in PacWest play.

FPU travels to Utah next weekend to face first-place Dixie State. DSU has already clinched the PacWest title.
