The 10th ranked Sunbirds dropped their first match of the season falling 8-1 to No. 26 Academy of Art in San Francisco on Tuesday.
Petra Jurova scored the lone win for Fresno Pacific (1-1) after the team missed out on two matches over the weekend due to weather. Jurova, the 14th ranked player in Division II, earned a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set victory over Nina Gajdosikova in the No. 1 singles match.
The Sunbirds will host No. 11 Azusa Pacific in their home opener on February 17. Matches will begin at 12:00 p.m.
