RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Jerrica Babb scored in the 26th minute to give Fresno Pacific a 1-0 lead on the road at Cal Baptist, but the Sunbirds would surrender three unanswered goals from that point to fall 3-1.
The Sunbirds (5-6-1, 5-2-1 PacWest) saw their five-match win streak come to an end, being out-shot 27-8 in the loss. The Lancers improved to 8-4-2, 6-0-2 in PacWest play.
FPU got off to a slow start with the Lancers controlling most of the possession early on and out-shooting the Sunbirds 9-0 over the first 20 minutes. The Sunbird defense held strong though and in the 26th minute a CBU defensive breakdown led to a scoring chance for Babb, who capitalized with her third goal in the last four games.
The lead would be short-lived however as the Lancers would tie it just seven minutes later on a goal by Lindsey Vesling following a corner kick. The teams went into the break tied 1-1 but the Lancers would score just over two minutes into the second half and again in the 60th minute to go up 3-1. Justine Kesterson and Kimberly Allard scored the final two goals for CBU.
The Sunbirds return home this Saturday to take on Hawaii Pacific (8-4-1, 5-3 PacWest) at 7:30 pm.
