The #1-ranked FPU men downed #6 Westmont 7-2 while the #2 women blanked the Warriors 8-0 in the GSAC openers for both teams in Santa Barbara on Saturday.

The FPU men did drop two of three in doubles play, with the lone win coming handily from Kirill Sinitsyn and Lloyd Bruce-Burgess, but the team won all six singles matches prior to that. Xavier Smith won a drawn-out battle with Bryan Cox on court one while Sinitsyn, Cledson Carvalho, Nathan Martinet, Amarit Sanchez and Bruce-Burgess also notched wins.

The women coasted through the doubles with a 3-0 lead before taking five singles matches with Nicole Simoni's match on court six going unfinished. All of the Sunbirds won in straight sets, including Yumiko Justin and Anna Mikhaylova, neither of which dropped a game. Marie Boura, Katarena Paliivets and Erika Januskova won on courts 1, 2 and 3.

The scheduled home tennis matches Monday vs. Azusa Pacific have been postponed due to the chance of rain and rescheduled for Tuesday, February 21 at noon. The teams' next matches will be Thursday at Biola.
