Fresno Pacific struggled to find its rhythm offensively on Saturday, falling to visiting Point Loma Nazarene 62-44. The Sunbirds (10-6, 2-2 GSAC) were limited to just 33 percent shooting, including a 3-for-20 night from three-point range.
Stephanie Larson provided a bright spot for the Sunbirds, scoring a team-high 15 points off the bench.
Jenay Herring added 14 to go with four assists.
Kayla Clement and
Breana Buczek led the team with seven rebounds apiece.
PLNU earned its first GSAC win (1-3) and improved to 10-6 overall behind 29 points from center Nyla Bailey. Guard Brianna Colon added 10 and backcourt mate Crissa Jackson finished with six assists and five steals.
It was the 15th straight victory over FPU for the Sea Lions, dating back to 2005.
The Sunbirds will have a quick turnaround and face the defending NAIA national champion Azusa Pacific, currently ranked #11 in the NAIA, on Tuesday night at 5:30 at the Special Events Center.
