Offense stifled at Biola

Box Score

LA MIRADA, Calif. - Things started out poorly for Fresno Pacific and only got worse as the night developed as the Sunbirds suffered their most lopsided defeat of the season, a 73-45 loss at the hands of Biola on Tuesday night.

Jenay Herring scored 18 points and had nine rebounds but FPU would shoot just 22 percent on the night, falling to 11-8, 3-4 in GSAC play. The next highest scorer was Callie Rohrbacker with seven points.

FPU dug itself a hole early in the game as the Eagles held the Sunbirds scoreless for the first six and a half minutes. A layup by Brandi Blackwell and a three-pointer by Sienna Gonzales brought FPU within one, but that was as close as the Sunbirds would get the rest of the way as Biola extended its lead to 27-14 by halftime.

The Eagles would run away with it in the second half, going up by as many as 34. Adijat Adams led Biola with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Chelsea Hill added 16 points.

The Sunbirds will get their first crack at an NAIA top 10 team this Saturday as they face #10 Vanguard at home at 2:30 pm.
