#13 Vanguard def. #9 Fresno Pacific 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-18)

FPU hit just .068 as a team on Saturday, falling in straight sets to Vanguard for the second time this season. The Sunbirds (14-10, 10-6 GSAC) were playing without setter Erica Adachi due to injury and have many other key players playing despite injuries.

Jessie Alcorn led the Sunbirds with nine kills, the first time this season FPU hasn't had a player reach double figures in that category. Emily Carroll had 19 assists and Kat Hutcheson had 11 digs in the loss. The Sunbirds did have a good blocking day, led by Kathleen Anderson's five total blocks. Amy Siemens added four.

The Lions (21-10, 10-6 GSAC) are now tied for third with the Sunbirds and hold the tiebreaker by virtue of sweeping the season series. KaUwila Lavea had 16 kills and Jamie Heenan added 13 for VU.

The Sunbirds will look to rebound as they face #11 Biola (21-12, 8-8 GSAC) on Tuesday night at home.
