BOX SCORE
AZUSA, CA. - The Fresno Pacific women's basketball fell to #7 ranked Azusa Pacific University 75-65 Tuesday evening in GSAC play.
After a first half during which the Cougars were able to establish a 34-24 lead, the Sunbirds picked up the intensity and sharpness going into the second period, matching the nationally ranked Cougars point for point.
Both teams scored 41 points apiece in the second half of play, but the damage APU had done in the opening 20 minutes would prove too much for the orange and blue to overcome.
Junior forward
Jessica Torrecillas had another strong outing with 18 points and 5 rebounds in the contest while teammates
Michele Rebozzi and
Jessica Mazza also had double-digit performances.
Rebozzi netted 14 and Mazza put up 13 points and 5 boards, respectively.
With the loss, the Sunbirds fall to 6-20 overall, and 3-13 in GSAC play while the Cougars improve to 22-4 and an impressive 15-1 in GSAC competition.
