OAKLAND, CA. - The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team faced Holy Names University in their season opener, falling to the Hawks 76-66 Friday evening. The Sunbirds got off to a slow start to begin the contest and although outscoring HNU 28-24 in the second half, were unable to overcome the early deficit.

Keri Stephanoff and
Jessica Mazza led the Sunbirds offensive effort in the game. Stephanoff went 7-10 from the field for 20 points and led the orange and blue in rebounds with 7 boards. Mazza contribute 11 points on the night, respectively.
The Sunbirds shot 51% (22-43) from the field, 33% (1-3) from three point range, and 75% (21-28) from the free-throw line.
Fresno Pacific will next face cross-town rival Fresno State November 4th, 2009 in an exhibition game.
