Fresno, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team hosted Concordia University earlier today i
n GSAC play at FPU's Special Event Center. The Sunbirds came out with a high level of intensity to start the game, and played two solid halves which helped them go on to defeat the Eagles 70-54.

Fresno Pacific scored the first basket of the game and never trailed throughout the entirety of the contest. The Sunbirds high energy and sharp execution early on helped in establishing a 32-22 halftime lead.

FPU continued to put the Eagles under pressure in the second period and would simply not allow Concordia to find a way back in the game. Fresno Pacific did struggle a bit from three-point distance shooting 29% (4-14), but were able to compensate for that deficiency by shooting 53% (19-55) from the field and a perfect 100% (8-8) from the free-throw line.

The Sunbirds were led by sophomore forward Jessica Torrecillas who shot 9-13 from the field and scored a game high 19 points. FPU senior guard Bricali Cooley also had a solid performance shooting 7-10 netting 15 points on the night, with four rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard Michele Rebozzi contributed nine points as well for the Sunbirds and was a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line.

"We played our best game so far this year," acknowledged FPU head coach Meredith Pulliam. "Every time they tried to start a run, we had an answer. We played like every possession mattered and I am really proud of our kids."

Fresno Pacific improves to 8-8 (4-5 GSAC) with the win and will host The Master's College in GSAC play
this Tuesday, January 27th at FPU's Special Event Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30PM.
