Box score

Santa Barbara, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team faced #15 Westmont College earlier this evening in Santa Barbara, CA. The nationally ranked Warriors proved too much for the Sunbirds, and went on to defeat FPU 64-52.

Fresno Pacific got off to a slow start and trailed 17-33 at the half, but were able to battle back to cut the deficit to just five points trailing 39-44 with 6:11 left to play in the second half. However, that was as close as FPU would get to upsetting Westmont who went on to win by 12 points.

The Sunbirds shot 19-45 (42%) from the field, 4-9 (44%) from three-point distance, and 10-11 (91%) from the free-throw line.

Fresno Pacific was lead offensively by sophomore forward Jessica Torrecillas who went 5-10 from the field, 4-4 from the free-throw line and scored a team high 14 points on the night. Torrecillas was also strong in the paint grabbing 7 rebounds while senior guard Samantha Cardeno also scored in double digits for FPU with 12 points.

The Sunbirds drop to 7-8 (3-5 GSAC) with the loss and will host Concordia University this Saturday, January 24th in FPU's Special Event Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30PM.
