Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team defeated Menlo College of Atherton 90-62 earlier this evening at FPU's Special Events Center in non-conference play. The Sunbirds received votes in the most recent NAIA Top 25 national coaches poll and seem to have gained momentum just in time for this Saturday's key home game against #15 Cal Baptist who was ranked #1 earlier this season.

Fresno Pacific made it a solid team effort tonight with six players scoring in double figures. Junior forward Eric Hipolito led the way going 6-6 from the field, grabbing 6 rebounds, and scored 14 points on the night. Junior forward Kendall Holmes also scored 14 points, with teammate Todd Brown scoring 12 points as well. Junior guard James Lewis and sophomore forward #Jordan Wild# also scored 11 points a piece while senior forward/guard Marcus West put up 10 points.

The Sunbirds were able to take a 53-27 halftime lead and stayed consistent in the second half to go on to defeat the Oaks convincingly by 28 points.

"We were pleased with how we played tonight," complimented FPU assistant coach Chris Wright. "It was good for us to get a solid win in before we return to GSAC play this Saturday when we host Cal Baptist."

With the win, Fresno Pacific improves to 9-3 (2-0 GSAC) and will look to possibly break into the Top 25 with a victory against #15 Cal Baptist this weekend. The Sunbirds will host the nationally ranked Lancers in FPU's Special Event Center this Saturday, January 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30PM.
