SAN MARCOS, Calif. — No. 4 Fresno Pacific volleyball had a rematch against Cal St. San Marcos on Friday, winning with scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-20. The 'Birds secured their seventh sweep of the season with their 3-0 victory over the Cougars.

The Sunbirds closed the first set with three straight Madelyn Feramisco kills after Cal State San Marcos tied it at 22-22, taking the set 25-22. Earlier, the Sunbirds moved from a 10-7 lead to 16-8, with Mikayla Weiss serving through a stretch that included her ace and kills by Feramisco and Makayla Smith.

The Blue and Orange broke open the second set by winning seven of eight rallies from a 4-4 tie to build an 11-5 advantage, with freshman Jocelyn Yang serving the final four points of that stretch and recording two aces. Weiss added a service ace as the Sunbirds continued to answer the Cougars' points, and the Sunbirds finished the set 25-16.

The Sunbirds broke a 17-17 tie with four straight points on Smith's serve, including a Feramisco block and a Weiss kill, to move ahead 21-17. After CSUSM trimmed the gap to 21-19, Itzel Aguayo swung off the block for match point (24-20), then responded with a kill to the left side for game point. The Sunbirds took the third set 25-20 for the win.

Feramisco led the Sunbirds with nine kills and 11.0 points, adding nine digs, one ace and one solo block. Weiss finished with 27 assists, four kills, two aces, six digs and two blocks. Aguayo recorded seven kills on 14 attacks without an error, hitting .500 and adding three block assists. Smith tallied six kills and matched the team high with 14 digs.

The Sunbirds are 12-0 overall and 3-0 in CCAA play. Fresno Pacific leads the conference in hitting percentage (.279) and kills (608).
