AZUSA, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific track and field team put their all into the APU Franson Last Chance meet in hopes of setting the stage for postseason. The Blue and Orange currently boasts over +20 student athletes who have hit NCAA DII provisional marks this season.
For the Lady 'Birds, Kenahdi Haslip led the women on the track with a second-place finish in the 400m at 54.36, while Avril Mendoza made a strong return to competition by taking fourth in the same event with a 54.42 finish. Cyan Haslip continued her breakout season in the 100m hurdles, placing third in the finals with a 13.63 after running a lifetime-best 13.73 in preliminaries to improve to No. 16 nationally and No. 2 on Fresno Pacific's all-time list. Shaniya Randolph climbed to a higher provisional mark in the 200m, coming in with a time of 23.76. Nydia Chance ran 11.95 in the women's 100m preliminaries, finishing third among Division II and III competitors.
On the men's side, Rome Johnson placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a 52.11 performance, while Monte Moore improved his own school record in the 800m with a time of 1:48.80. Shemar Palmer also impressed in the 100m preliminaries, taking second with a blazing 10.29 to set a new provisional record. Jonathan Tseko-Biffle added a sixth-place finish in the 110m hurdles finals at 14.20 after clocking 14.08 in preliminaries.
In field events, Malachi Carrasco continued his standout year in the high jump, clearing 2.13m to finish second overall behind only UCLA. Brooklyn Epperley earned third-place finishes in both the hammer throw (46.81m) and discus (45.25m), while Micah Vossler posted his second-best long jump mark of the season at 7.20m. Julian Buchan added a fourth-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 4.73m.
With postseason competition approaching in two weeks, the Sunbirds continue to stack strong performances against elite competition.
