FRESNO, Calif. - Yet again, Fresno Pacific track and field split the forces to compete at three separate meets this weekend, contributing strong performances at the Leopard Invitational, Mt. SAC Relays, and the Bryan Clay Invitational. The Sunbirds collected four provisional marks overall and shattered a program record in the 800m.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, the Sunbirds turned in several headline performances. Evan Torres recorded a personal best in the 5,000 meters, crossing in 14:36 to move up to No. 6 all-time in program history. On the women's side, Julissa Avila clocked a 4:46 in the 1,500 meters, a personal best that ranks her No. 9 all-time, while Gianna Menchu added a PR in the 800 meters (2:17). In throws, Chavez Grey finished fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 49.60m.
The Sunbirds also made noise on the national stage! Shemar Palmer improved his season-best in the 200 meters, moving into the No. 1 spot in the nation, while also posting a season-best in the 400 meters to rank No. 2 nationally. Avril Mendoza continued her strong campaign, setting a new lifetime best that placed her fourth in the country. Jonathan Tseko-Biffle also improved his NCAA provisional mark in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.23. Monte Moore delivered a record-breaking performance in the 800 meters, placing fourth overall with a time of 1:48.91 to set a new program record and provisional mark.
At the Leopard Invite, Fresno Pacific's distance group continued its momentum with a series of personal-best performances. Jaslin Arana (18:29) and Alesandro Escarzaga (15:34) each recorded PRs in the 5,000 meters, while Daniel Galvez (4:03) and Isaac Medina (4:08) notched personal bests in the 1,500 meters. On the track, Aamir Smith and Jovarie Hayden finished second and third in the 200m, coming in at 22.16 and 22.17, respectively. Jackson Paramo finished third in the 400m (48.74) and Shaniya Randolph closed out the day with a third-place finish in the 200m, finishing with a time of 24.71.
Overall, the Sunbirds showcased their depth and progression, combining record-breaking performances with a wave of personal bests. The 'Birds head to the PacWest Championships this weekend, competing down in San Diego from April 23-25th.
