Sunbird Family,
February is what we call crossover season in Sunbird Athletics. Winter championships are in full swing while spring seasons are already competing. On any given day, you can walk from basketball or STUNT in the Special Events Center to tennis or baseball practice, check a water polo score on your phone, and see track preparing for the weekend. It is one of the most demanding stretches of the year, and honestly, one of the most energizing.
Crossover season reminds us how interconnected this department really is. Coaches are recruiting while preparing for postseason play. Staff members are flipping facilities from one event to the next. Our sports information and event teams are covering multiple competitions at once. It is busy. It is loud. It is fun. And it is a privilege to serve nearly 400 student-athletes who are competing with excellence right now.
This semester has also brought visible change to the Special Events Center. New seating, upgraded lighting, and improved sound are not just cosmetic improvements. They are investments in experience. These upgrades matter for our student-athletes who compete there, for recruits who walk through the doors, and for the fans and families who show up week after week. Creating environments that feel first-class and welcoming is part of how we communicate value, pride, and care.
One of the areas deeply impacted by COVID was our Hall of Fame. Like many traditions across college athletics, it paused during those uncertain years. We are excited to share that Fresno Pacific Athletics will officially bring back the Hall of Fame in Fall 2026.
Our Hall of Fame is about more than plaques and ceremonies. It is about telling the story of faith, sacrifice, championships, character, and legacy. It is about honoring the women and men who helped shape this department and reminding current student-athletes that they are part of something bigger than a single season.
We are now opening the nomination process for individuals and teams to be considered for induction. If you know a former student-athlete, coach, administrator, or team worthy of recognition, I encourage you to submit a nomination. Please visit the link below for criteria and submission information.

As we navigate the busyness of crossover season, I am continually reminded of John 15 and Christ's call to abide. In a season filled with travel schedules, postseason races, recruiting weekends, and strategic planning, it would be easy to measure success only by wins or visible growth. But lasting fruit comes from remaining grounded in Him.
For me, that means leading with clarity, stewarding resources wisely, and remembering that every competition, every renovation, and every decision ultimately serves young people entrusted to our care.
Thank you for your continued belief in this mission. Your generosity, encouragement, and prayers make moments like this possible. Crossover season is busy, but it is beautiful. And we are grateful you are part of it.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Kyle Ferguson
