FULL RESULTS

FRESNO, Calif.- After a week off, the Sunbirds were back in action Saturday across town at the Fresno State Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium. 

For the women, Brianna Green continued her historic season with another school record, this time in the 400m. Green broke the previous record by .65 of a second, a mark that now ranks third in the nation. Freshman Avril Mendoza had a another personal best in the 400m hurdles, improving on her third all-time school record to 59.91 and is now 11th  in the nation. In the 200m, freshman Mikiyla Royal ran herself into the record books with a time of 24.19, placing her 9th all-time in the storied program. Mattie Whipple and Maria Magnusdottir combined for the 1-2 finish in the women's 1500m. Magnusdottir moved up one spot to third all-time for the 'Birds in the event, improving her best to 3:38.44 and placed herslef onto the 800m list (8th) with her 2:15.92 effort. Milani Ward joined the top ten school list in the 100m hurdles with a 15.01, placing her 10th. In the women's 4x400m, the relay team of Copeland, Randolph, Vera, and Green ran a nation-leading time of 3:36.82, which is second in school history only to the 2022 National Champions in that event (3:35.92). 
 

On the men's side, Shemar Palmer improved on his 100m school record, winning the event in 10.30. The men's 4x400m relay team of Zavian Cook, Palmer, Bo Olsen, and Damian Smith ran a fourth all-time FPU mark of 3:10.02 on their way to the win, ranking them 17th in the nation. Chavez Gray was runner-upon the discus, throwing a personal best of 171'9". Back on the track, Estevan Gonzalez ran competitively in the 200m for a big personal best of 21.99. 

UP NEXT

The Sunbirds will compete in their final meet of the regular season, APU's Last Chance, next weekend May 9th-10th before heading to the National Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.
