Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. - FPU women's tennis squared off with Biola in a PacWest Conference showdown Tuesday afternoon. The host Eagles were unanimously victorious, winning 7-0. Biola has FPU's number this season, having won their first meeting of the season by the same scoreline.
In doubles action, Biola was able to quickly earn the point after fast wins on courts two and three. The #1 singles duo of
Yume Ueoku and
Daimy Paula were only trailing their first set by a few games but abandoned their match after the point was clinched.
Lily Villagomez and Margarita Muñoz were the first to fall in singles, both dropping their matches 6-0, 6-1 on courts six and four, respectively. The match was clinched on court five, where
Malia Mitchell fell 6-1, 6-1. Biola's quest for perfection on the day continued, and it was Paula who would fall next on court two 6-2, 6-3.
Halle Faherty (court three) and Ueoku both tried to put up a fight but were eventually overpowered in 6-3, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-2 defeats, respectively. Ueoku's first set showed early promise for the 'Birds, but ultimately the Eagles' quality prevailed.
UP NEXT
The Sunbirds won't have much time to dwell on Tuesday's performance, as they close out their regular season against the 18th ranked Azuza Pacific Cougars in Azusa on Wednesday. The Sunbirds have already qualified for next week's PacWest Championships held in Surprise, Arizona.
