ORLANDO, Florida.- It was top ten upset for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds as they took down the #7 Rollins College Tars 4-3 Tuesday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The doubles point set the tone early for the day for the 'Birds. On court three, Emilio Seelbach and Brodie Sodersten dominated, shutting out their opponents 6-0. Rollins struck back on court two, with a 6-0 sweep of their own. The decisive doubles match came down to court one, where Sven Bangert and Ben Cronau delivered a clutch 7-6 (7-4) win to clinch the doubles point for the Sunbirds.
In singles play, Ravi Nelson gave the Sunbirds an early boost with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win on court one. Rollins answered back, tying the match 2-2 taking victories on courts four and three. However, the Sunbirds bounced back to retake the lead on court six, where Bangert battled back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. The Tars retied the match with a win on court two with a three set come from behind win. Knotted at 3-3, the match fell on court five. After dropping the first set, Seelbach rallied to claim a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory, clinching the upset win for the Sunbirds.
