SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- After a tough loss yesterday, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds bounced back in dominating fashion with a 6-1 win over the Westmont Warriors Saturday afternoon at the Westmont Courts.
Starting off in the doubles, the Warriors pushed ahead first coming out on top on court one 6-3. On court three, the duo of
Brodie Sodersten and
Emilio Seelbach came out on top 6-4 to tie the doubles at 1-1. The deciding match fell on court two where
Martin Ramirez and
Gregor Kliimask took care of business winning 6-3 to clinch to doubles point for the 'Birds.
In the singles, the Warriors secured their lone point of the day briefly tying the match 1-1 with a straight sets win on court five.
Sven Bangert got the first singles win for the 'Birds on court six, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. On court one, senior Ravi Nelson proved victorious in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. In a close battle, Martin Ramirez took down Valentin Dignac 7-5, 7-6 (6), to clinch the match for the Sunbirds.
Court four finished next, with Kliimask coming out on top in a tight three-setter. After falling behind in the first set, Kliimask rallied back taking sets two and three to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Soderten claimed one more singles win for the 'Birds, using three grueling sets after falling behind on court two to best Diego De Cooman, 4-6, 6-3, and winning the third in dramatic fashion in a tiebreaker 7-6 (6).
UP NEXT
The Sunbirds will hop on a plane and travel cross-country to the Sunshine State for a three match road trip, kicking it off against #7 Rollins College on March 4th at 1pm at the USTA National Campus.
