ROCKLIN, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds collected their first win of the season on Wednesday as they swept the Jessup Warriors 4-0 at the Wolverine Tennis Complex.
To begin the match, the 'Birds collected wins on courts one and two doubles to secure a 1-0 lead.
Halle Faherty and
Margarita Munoz registered their second win of the season as it grabbed the first win of the match at court two.
Yume Ueoku and
Daimy Paula followed with a dominant 6-1 win to clinch the doubles point.
The Sunbirds kept its strong play up as the match carried into singles beginning with Faherty winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Munoz followed closely behind with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at court three to pull the 'Birds within a point of clinching the match.
Malia Mitchell provided the decisive victory, on court five. After taking the first set, Fischer battled through a tiebreaker (7-5) in the second set to solidify the match (6-4, 7-6) for the Sunbirds.
