INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Fresno Pacific has been selected as the No. 3 seed for the NCAA West Region, announced Monday night during the NCAA Selection Show. The No. 8-ranked 'Birds now turn their attention to San Diego, where they'll compete at the 2025 NCAA West Region Championships from December 4–6.
Although Fresno Pacific defeated Point Loma in the battle for the PacWest Conference title, the Sea Lions were picked as the No. 1 seed and were selected to host the NCAA tournament for the first time ever. The other teams selected for west regionals included: CSU San Bernardino (22-5), Alaska Anchorage (23-5), Alaska Fairbanks (23-5), Simon Fraser (20-4), Western Washington (19-6), and Central Washington (18-7).
The NCAA West Region Volleyball Championships take place over the course of three days. The first day of matchups occur on Thursday, Dec. 4, followed by semifinals the day after, with the championship match scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6.
As the No. 3 seed, Fresno Pacific will play against No. 6 seed Western Washington in an early 11 am quarterfinal match on Thursday morning. The winner of the match will move forward to semifinals on Friday to face the winner between Simon Fraser and Central Washington.
In additional news, the Sunbirds surpassed their national ranking from week's prior, capturing the No. 8 spot in the AVCA national rankings. It is likely the highest placement the team has received since transitioning to Division II.
