LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the 2025 All-America selections across the nation. The stellar Sunbird trio of
Geneva Elliott,
Cambria Waites, and
Mikayla Weiss rightfully earned their place on the All-America team after contributing to a historical season for Fresno Pacific volleyball.
As announced in the AVCA's 44th annual All-America team selections, 42 players were named All-Americans, including 14 on first, second and third teams from 29 schools across the country. On top of the 42 players who made the three AVCA All-America teams, there were 117 honorable mention selections.
Graduate setter Weiss was one of the first players in Fresno Pacific volleyball history to make an AVCA All-America Team, securing third team for the first time in her career. Over the course of the season, the Clovis native tallied 144 kills with a 0.335 hitting percentage, 968 assists, 63 total blocks and 296 digs. She was also recently named AVCA All-West Region First Team, D2CCA All-West Region Second Team, PacWest Setter of the Year, First Team All-PacWest, and All-West Region Tournament team. Weiss proved to be a significant asset to the No. 8 'Birds, contributing assists to the offense, being clever at the net, and providing the momentum at the NCAA West Regional tournament.
Joining Weiss, the senior duo Waites and Elliott were included in the AVCA honorable mention selections. Both seniors competed at Fresno Pacific for all four years of their career and were critical for the Sunbirds over the course of the season and at the NCAA West Regional tournament. Waites recently received All-West Region Tournament Team, First Team All-PacWest, and Most Outstanding Player at the PacWest Conference Tournament. Middle blocker Elliott also had an impressive list of postseason awards, such as AVCA All-West Region First Team, D2CCA All-West Region First Team, and First Team All-PacWest.
Fresno Pacific volleyball etched its name into the history books this season, finishing with an extraordinary 27-2 record and a hard-fought run to the NCAA West Region Finals. The impact of these three standouts, along with the unwavering commitment of the entire roster, has elevated the program to new heights. The momentum built this year will continue to propel the 'Birds forward.
