FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno Pacific volleyball maintained its unbeaten streak with a 3-0 victory over Concordia University Irvine to bump their conference record to 2-0, winning with scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-22 in the clean sweep.

The first set began with FPU establishing a strong presence at home. After an early exchange of points, service contributions from
Madelyn Feramisco and back-to-back overpass kills by
Makayla Smith and
Cambria Waites propelled the team to a 4-1 lead. Key plays included a service ace from
Geneva Elliott, who paired up with Waites for a block to steal the show. As the set progressed, CUI narrowed the gap, tying the score at 14-14. However, FPU responded with consistent offensive play, including a service ace by Smith and a series of kills from Waites and Feramisco. The set remained tightly contested until Fresno Pacific pulled ahead with a 22-21 lead. With Elliott serving on the back line,
Itzel Aguayo and Smith blocked an attack on the right side to make it 23-21. Taking advantage of the shift in momentum, Waites bounced a ball down the line and captured a tricky service ace to close the set 25-22.
The Blue and Orange opened the second set by capitalizing on multiple CUI attack errors. A key early block by Elliott against CUI attacker set the tone, and Smith followed with a series of kills, assisted by libero
Devyn Castaneda, to extend the lead to 5-1. The Sunbirds maintained their advantage through steady offensive contributions, including kills from Aguayo and Weiss. Despite a brief scoring run by CUI, Feramisco responded with a kill and ace of her own, which alongside further errors from the Golden Eagles, made a 20-12 advantage. The period concluded with an incredible Weiss kill and a final attack error by the Golden Eagles, securing a 25-16 win for Fresno Pacific.
The third set started with an early one-point deficit with a series of kills from Waites and Smith, taking a brief 3-1 lead. Despite CUI's response to tie the game at 3-3, the 'Birds regained momentum with a 6-3 run, highlighted by a service ace from the team and consistent setting from Weiss to push the score to 14-12. CUI managed to level the score at 17-17, but Fresno Pacific responded with a sharp kill from Aguayo and another from Feramisco, allowing them to maintain a narrow edge. The set concluded with Fresno Pacific capitalizing on errors from CUI, ultimately securing the set 25-22.
