Sunbirds Face Fierce Waters Against Division I Foes

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific men's water polo team faced strong DI competition on day two of the Julian Fraser Tournament. The Sunbirds did their best to rally against Cal Baptist and Loyola Marymount, but ultimately fell to both DI powerhouses.

GAME 1 | Cal Baptist University (9-17)

California Baptist dominated the early stages, establishing a 3-0 lead. Despite the Sunbirds efforts, the Lancers scored again, ending the first period with a 4-0 advantage. Fresno Pacific responded in the second period with a goal by Chris Sandino, but CBU maintained a 7-3 lead by halftime. The third period saw a balanced exchange. Fresno Pacific's Luke Young found the back of the net and got the momentum moving for the 'Birds. In the fourth quarter, CBU's consistent scoring ended in a 17-9 victory, despite the Sunbirds' late efforts with goals from Forrest Gray and Young.

GAME 2 | LMU (10-31)

Loyola Marymount opened the match with a commanding performance, scoring the first three goals. Senior Christian Clark put Fresno Pacific on the board, but LMU responded with a six-goal streak, ending the first quarter with a 7-1 lead. The second period saw LMU extend their lead, contributing to a 13-2 scoreline. Fresno Pacific attempted a comeback with a goal from Blake Johnson in the third quarter, but LMU maintained control, finishing the period ahead 24-5.
