Letter from the AD

Sunbird Family,

As some of you know, my previous job was as a professor at Lewis-Clark State in Idaho. Thankfully, I occasionally get the opportunity to be in the classroom at FPU. I am currently teaching CP 152: New Student Orientation and I've had the chance to work with an amazing group of freshmen this fall. Last week, I told them this point in the semester always reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Groundhog Day. The newness and excitement of the semester have worn off, and we're still a few weeks from a break. It's that stretch where the days can start to feel repetitive (classes, practices, games, meetings) but it's also when consistency, discipline, and purpose start to shine through. That's what makes this time of year so meaningful.

And that same steady commitment is showing across Sunbird Athletics. Volleyball continues to soar, dominating their way to a perfect 18–0 and is ranked #13 nationally. Even more impressive than their record is the quality of young women on that team. Their discipline, teamwork, and joy for the game have been contagious across campus.

Our men's and women's soccer programs are deep into conference play, competing hard and representing FPU with class and high character. Every time I see them play, I'm reminded of how much pride our student-athletes take in wearing "Fresno Pacific" across their chest.

Cross Country is headed to Hawai'i this week for the conference championships, followed by regionals in Oregon and nationals in Wisconsin. I had the chance to watch them compete at Woodward Park and in Santa Clara, and I couldn't be prouder of the effort and togetherness they display. They truly embody what it means to give your best every day.

Men's Water Polo, under Jon Miller's leadership in his first season, continues to take important strides forward. The team earned its first conference win against UC Merced and battled through two close games this past weekend which is a sign of the growth happening in that program.

Men's and Women's Swim are already in the pool for early meets, building momentum for what should be another strong season. And it won't be long before basketball tips off, bringing the energy of winter sports back to the Special Events Center.

I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported our Week of Giving. Together, we raised over $172,000, and every penny goes right back into enhancing the student-athlete experience and sharing Christ with our students. The generosity of our Sunbird community is what makes FPU such a special place; your gifts make a lasting impact both on and off the field.

Thank you for continuing to support our student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Our purpose here is encompassed by the Sunbird Creed: By God's Grace & For God's Glory.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Kyle Ferguson
