Sunbird Men Bring the Fight to the Oaks

ATHERTON, Calif. — Fresno Pacific men's soccer fell to Menlo College 4-2 on Saturday afternoon, despite scoring in each half.

The match began with Fresno Pacific taking an early lead in the 10th minute when Chris Macias scored, assisted by Chris Meza. Macias has opened the scoresheet for the Sunbirds four times this season. However, this initial momentum was countered by Menlo in the 18th minute. The Oaks then took a bigger lead in the 25th minute through a penalty kick. The Sunbirds continued to search for opportunities but were unable to level the score before the halftime whistle. The period ended with Menlo ahead, 2-1.

The second half began with the Sunbirds making early attempts to shift momentum. First-half scorer Macias delivered a shot on target within the first minute, but it was saved by Menlo's goalkeeper. The 'Birds continued to press with multiple corner opportunities but struggled to convert, while Menlo capitalized with two goals in quick succession, extending their lead.

Despite the setback, Fresno Pacific maintained offensive pressure, with Zion Vaughn finding the back of the net in the 87th minute, cutting into Menlo's lead. The visiting team continued to press with additional corner kicks but was unable to close the gap further. The period concluded with Menlo holding a 4-2 advantage.

The Sunbirds hold a record of 4-6-1 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.
