2025 PacWest Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships Information Guide

HONOLULU, Hawaii - The 2025 PacWest Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held at Hawai'i Country Club in Waipahu, Oahu on Saturday, October 25.

The Hawaii Country Club is located just below the Waianae Mountain Range and is the oldest Country Club in Oahu. Although many Hawaii high schools have used the venue for cross country races, this will be the first time a collegiate championship will be held on the grounds. The entire golf course is utilized for the course, featuring plenty of long downhills, varied terrain, and short uphill portions. The best place to catch multiple runners will be in the middle portion of the course.

RACE SCHEDULE:
6:00 AM Course Opens
7:50 AM National Anthem
8:00 AM Women's 6K Race
8:45 AM Men's 8K Race
10:00 AM Awards Ceremony

WOMEN'S 6K COURSE (LIVESTATS)
The women's race starts on high ground in the northwest corner of the golf course. Runners begin with about ¾ mile of downhill before looping back to Mile 1. The second mile includes a climb past the finish area, looping behind the start to Mile 2. From there, the course trends downhill until a steep hill before Mile 3. The final stretch features a short descent, then a gradual uphill push to the finish.

MEN'S 8K COURSE (LIVESTATS)
The men's race starts in the same northwest corner, with ¾ mile of downhill leading to Mile 1. Runners loop past the finish line, repeat a 2,000-meter section, and then climb uphill near Mile 3. A long downhill follows to Mile 4 before one final steep climb. The race finishes with a downhill and flat section, ending on a slight uphill sprint to the line.

The Top 21 runners will receive All-PacWest recognition and individual champions will receive PacWest Champion plaques. The Top 7 finishers in each race will be All-PacWest first team, while 8-14 will be All-PacWest second team, and 15-21 will be All-PacWest third team.

The Sunbirds are thrilled to return to the PacWest Conference Championships with first-year head coach Landon Miller at the helm. At the 2024 PacWest Championships, Jansen Gillig on the men's team earned Third-Team All PacWest, where he ran a lifetime best 25:07, to capture a 21st place finish. On the women's side, Julissa Avila placed tenth and earned Second-Team, while Mattie Whipple and Gaby Ramirez came in 20th and 21st respectively, both claiming Third-Team.

"The team is really looking forward to a very competitive conference meet out in Hawaii," said Miller. "We are coming off a really solid training block and hoping that fitness translates into some positive results at the conference meet and beyond!"
