'Birds Come Up Short on Day Two of Inland Empire Classic

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds had a pair of games fail to go their way Sunday falling to the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens and the University of Redlands Bulldogs in the final games of the Inland Empire Classic.

GAME ONE

The Sunbirds kicked off Sunday morning with an early matchup with the Pomona Pitzer Sagehens.

Fresno Pacific scored consistently, starting with two goals each in the first two periods and a standout six goal third period.

However, their one goal fourth period couldn't close the gap.

Pomona-Pitzer took an early lead, scoring four goals in the first period and maintaining their advantage throughout, with five goals in the fourth period sealing their victory 14-11.

GAME TWO

The 'Birds looked to rebound in the afternoon game against the University of Redlands.

The Bulldogs dominated early, scoring three goals in the first quarter, while Fresno Pacific managed only one.

The second quarter saw Redlands further extend their lead, entering halftime ahead 8-5.

Although the Sunbirds fought back, narrowing the margin with three goals in the third quarter, Redlands maintained control by scoring five goals in the final quarter taking the game 16-9.

Piettro Cattano led the day for the 'Birds scoring seven goals with Christian Clark following with four.

Fresno Pacific will host their home opener Friday against George Washington University at 1pm at the Sunnyside Aquatics Center.
