Gray Scores Seven as 'Birds Fall to Revolutionaries

FRESNO, Calif.-The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short in a 19-13 loss to the George Washington Revolutionaries at the Sunnyside Aquatics Complex Friday afternoon.

The Sunbirds stayed toe-to-toe with George Washington through the first two quarters, with both teams tied 3-3 after the first period and 4-4 in the second.

In the third period, the Sunbirds began to lose momentum, and were outscored four to three.

Although goals from Piettro Cattano and Forrest Gray kept the match close, the Revolutionaires led a charge that the 'Birds could not overcome in the fourth.

The fourth period was all George Washington as they pulled away even further scoring eight goals to the Sunbirds three to seal the 19-13 victory.

Chase Hammes recorded seven pivotal saves with a three coming from five-meter penalty shots, keeping the game close for the 'Birds until the very end.

Forrest Gray led all Sunbird scorers with a career-high seven goals, with Pietro Cattano, and Christian Saldino behind with three apiece.

The Sunbirds will be back home next Thursday for a matchup with American River at 1pm at the Sunnyside Aquatics Center.
