FRESNO, Calif.- In a hard-fought contest at Ramirez Field, Fresno Pacific Sunbirds battled to a 1-1 draw against UC Merced.
The Sunbirds found themselves behind early as the Bobcats scored quickly in the 4th minute to take the early 1-0 advantage.
Throughout the first half both teams battled for possession and made strong offensive pushes while playing lock down defense.
Despite outshooting the Bobcats five to one the 'Birds still found themselves trailing at the halfway point.
Out of the half, the Sunbirds were awarded a penalty kick in the 54th minute in which
Lucas Ribeiro expertly converted knotting the score at 1-1.
The Sunbirds and the Bobcats continued to battle as time expired, but neither could break through resulting in a 1-1 draw.
The result marks Fresno Pacific's second-consecutive tie.
The Sunbirds looks to carry the positives from the draw as they head up north in a netural site matchup with Cal Poly Humboldt Saturday afternoon at 1pm in Atherton at Wunderlich Field.
