CARSON, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds held on until the final minutes, but ultimately fell 1-0 to the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros Wednesday evening at Toro Stadium.Â
The Sunbirds and Toros played to a scoreless first half.
Fresno Pacific registered just one shot on goal the whole half.Â
The team's defense, led by Karyssa Lopez and Chloe Mortensen, held strong, limiting the Toros to only one shot on target.
In the first half, the Sunbirds earned two corner kicks but were unable to convert.Â
The Toros came out with increased intensity in the second half, significantly out shooting the Sunbirds 14 to 2.
Monique Nevarez, was called into action several times, making three key saves to keep the game level.
However, the Toros' pressure eventually led to a penalty kick, which was converted in the 81st minute.
Fresno Pacific will look to regroup as they host Cal State San Bernardino Monday at 5pm at Ramirez Field.
