FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds battled but fell short Monday afternoon in their last home match of the season to the Biola Eagles 4-3.
The Eagles started off the afternoon strong clinching the doubles point with two quick wins on Courts 1 and 3.
In the singles, Yume Ueoko evened the score to give the Sunbirds their first point of the afternoon with a dominant win on Court 2, 6-2, 6-0.
Elise Leik provided the next point for the Sunbirds as dominated from start to finish sweeping her opponent 6-0,6-0.
The Eagles countered back with straight set wins on Court 6 and 1 to jump back ahead by a point.
Audrey Ouellet evened the score once again with a win of her own on Court 3, 7-6, 6-2.
The deciding match fell on Court 5 where Daimy Paula fought to force a third set after dropping the first 2-6 came back to win the second 6-1.
A back-and-forth battle in the third failed to go Paula's way as she dropped the set 2-6 giving the Eagles the match and the deciding point.
The Sunbirds will travel to Turlock to take on the Stanislaus State Warriors Wednesday for their final regular season match of the year.
