FRESNO, Calif.- The middle innings saw both games of the double header slip away from the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (17-17 overall, 8-12 PacWest) by scores of 6-1 and 18-8 to the Westmont Warriors (26-9-3 overall, 17-2-1 PacWest) Monday night at the FPU Diamond.

The Sunbirds scored an early run, benefitting from a walk by Westmont starter Sean Youngerman to
Trent Mallonee.

Andrew Valdez doubled down the left field line to put runners on second and third before a
Donte Valdez sacrifice fly scored the games first run.
Â

Riley Creech was solid, retiring Westmont in order in the first and keeping them scoreless in the 2
nd and 3
rd innings as well.
Â
But Westmont tallied a pair of runs in the fourth to take the lead and piled on a three run fifth to jump in front 5-1.

Youngerman locked in for Westmont and threw six scoreless innings to finish after the 7
th and stand in line for the win.

The Warriors added an insurance run in the ninth to take the game 6-1.

In game two, Westmont homered in the first at bat of the game but freshman Craig Yanigahara got out of the inning with no further damage.

The Sunbirds took advantage of 3 hit batters and 2 walks in the bottom of the inning to push across two runs without a hit and take the lead.

Ethan Tsui then drove in two more to make it 4-1 and
Justin Tiger doubled in two more runs. In all the Sunbirds held a 7-1 lead after the first.

Westmont got a run back in the 2
nd but exploded for 13 runs in the 3
rd, ultimately turning the game around.
Â
Each team scored in the fifth but Westmont added two runs in the 6
th to finish the series.

Fresno Pacific hits the road on Friday to begin a four-game series against Biola in La Mirada.
