FRESNO, Calif.-Despite eight different Sunbirds adding their names to the score sheet, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds couldn't keep up as they fell to the Biola Eagles Friday afternoon 17-9.
FPU came out strong in the first scoring two quick goals from Maggie Cook and Emily Lopez-Ibarra to take an early 2-0 lead.
The 'Birds lone lead of the game didn't last long as Eagles scored three straight goals to end the first up 3-2.
Biola continued to dominate in the second scoring three more goals, making a 6-0 run.
With two minutes left in the second, Tatum Benson broke through the Eagles defense to end the scoring drought.
The Eagles would end the second with another pair of goals taking a commanding 8-3 lead into the third.
To open the third, Lopez-Ibarra found the back of the net off the power play ending another scoring run for the Eagles.
Biola would score another three before a stellar goal from Maggie Cook ended the third as the 'Birds were down 12-5.
The fourth was marked by both teams trading goal for goal as the Sunbirds attempted a comeback.
Goals for Fresno Pacific would come from Regan Azevedo off a penalty shot, Alli Hepner, Isabella Alcazar, and a last second goal from Courtney Belliotti.
Time expired as the comeback fell short as the Sunbirds fell 17-9 to the WWPA West Region Champion Eagles.
Fresno Pacific will conclude the regular season with a match tomorrow at 4pm the Fresno State Aquatics Center against the Santa Clara Broncos.
