FRESNO, Calif. -
Yume Ueoku provided the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds with their lone point of the day with her singles victory as the 'Birds fell 4-1 to the Point Loma Sea Lions Wednesday afternoon at the PLNU Tennis Courts.
The doubles point was tightly contested as the Sea Lions took the first victory with a 6-1 win on Court 3, but the Sunbirds countered back with a 6-2 win of their own on Court 1 from
Nayuma Subba and Ueoku.
It all came down to Court 2 where
Daimy Paula and
Halle Faherty battled but eventually fell in a tie breaker, 7-6 (3) giving the Sea Lions the 1-0 lead.
Ueoku evened the score quickly in the singles with a dominant straight set victory on Court 2 6-0, 6-3.
The Sea Lions however took back the momentum with straight set wins Courts 5, 4, and 6 to steal the 4-1 victory.
When play was halted, Subba was making a comeback on Court 1 up in the second set after dropping the first and on Court 3
Audrey Ouellet had the advantage after winning the first set.
The Sunbirds will continue their Southern California road trip with a stop Saturday in Santa Barbara as they take on the Westmont Warriors at 12:00 p.m.
