FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds couldn't quite get past the Dallas Baptist Patriots Monday afternoon as they fell 4-3.
The Patriots and the Sunbirds quickly split the doubles matches with the Patriots taking court three 6-1, while the 'Birds Nayuma Subba and Yume Ueoku secured the win on court one 6-1.
With the courts split, court two became the deciding match.
On court two, Daimy Paula and Halle Faherty found themselves in a tough battle with their opponents eventually falling 7-5 to give the the doubles point to the Patriots.
The Patriots continued to gain momentum in the singles with quick straight set wins on courts five, four, and six to secure the win.
Fresno Pacific secured their first win of the day on court two where Ueoku played a strong match winning 6-2, 6-4.
On court one, in similar fashion Subba secured the second win of the day for the Sunbirds 6-2, 6-4.
In the last match of the day, Audrey Ouellet edged out her opponent 7-6 (2), 6-3.
Up next, Fresno Pacific will head to San Diego to jump back in to PacWest conference play against the Point Loma Sea Lions Wednesday at 12:00p.m.
