Box Score IRVINE, Calif.- A comeback for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds fell short Saturday morning as they lost 4-3 to the #45 Concordia University Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles and the Sunbirds split the first two doubles with the #11 Nayuma Subba and Yume Ueoku earning the win over Sophie Ranchor and Tiffany Carrillo 7-5.
The deciding match feel on Court 3 where Daimy Paula and Halle Faherty eventually fell in a tie breaker 7-6 (7-5) giving CUI the doubles point.
CUI earned the first point in the singles with a straight set victory on Court 3, but Elise Leik countered back with a win of her own on Court 4 6-4, 6-2.
The Sunbirds kept the wins rolling as Subba won on Court 1 7-5, 6-3.
Teammate Ueoku won her fifth straight match in a three setter 6-4, 6-2, 6-1.
The Golden Eagles put away all hopes of a comeback sealing their victory with straight set wins on Courts 5 and 6.
Fresno Pacific will be back at the Haak Tennis Center all next week as they host the Fresno Pods with their first match Wednesday against Metro State Denver at 2:00pm.
