FRESNO, Calif. - A wire-to-wire match failed to go the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds way Wednesday night as they fell 4-3 to the Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles.
The Sunbirds started off strong in the doubles with a 6-0 sweep on court three by Gregor Kliimask and Martin Ramirez.Â
The dominance continued on court one where Brodie Sodersten snd Emilio Seelbach took down their opponents 6-3.
Ben Cronau and Sven Bangert were on serve 3-2 on court two when the 'Birds clinched the doubles point.Â
In the singles, Bangert kept the Sunbirds rolling with a straight set sweep on court six 6-0, 6-0.
The Golden Eagles countered back with straight set wins on court four, two, and three.Â
On court five, Seelbach secured another Sunbird victory with another straight set wins 6-3, 7-5.Â
With the score tied 3-3 it all came down to Ravi Nelson who was in a battle on court one but ultimately fell 7-5, 6-1 sealing the victory for the Golden Eagles.Â
Fresno Pacific will back back at home Saturday with a match against American River at 2pm at the Haak Tennis Center.Â
