FRESNO, Calif.- Despite 26 points from
Isaac Peralta and 44 points in the paint, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (7-18 overall, 5-12 PacWest) fell 74-68 to the Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans (16-11 overall, 10-8 PacWest) Thursday night inside the Special Events Center.
The 'Birds scoring attack was evenly balanced in the first half with foul trouble coming into play for multiple players in the early going.
But Hilo built a nine point lead behind five first half three-pointers.
From there, Peralta sparked the Sunbird offense, pulling FPU within one at multiple points in the second half.
Peralta led the attack on the rim as FPU recorded two-thirds of its point in the paint.
The sophomore guard poured in 20 of his 26 points in the second half, but foul trouble up and down the lineup was problematic late for FPU.
FPU outscored Hilo by three in the second half and shot 52% from the field, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Vulcans.
Peralta was the only Sunbird in double-figures but
Harrison Pennisi and
Gabriel Quiette each added 9 points.
Fresno Pacific wraps up the homestand on Saturday night, hosting the Academy of Art at 7:30 pm
