FRESNO, Calif. - In a cross town rivalry game the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds fell to the #3 Fresno State Bulldogs 23-3 Friday night at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.
The Bulldogs jumped to an early four goal lead before the Sunbirds answered on a goal from
Natalie Kisling with three minutes left in the first period.
Fresno State would add two more to take a 6-1 lead to end the first.
Three more goals would give the Bulldogs their largest lead of the game so far at eight.
Tatum Benson would add her name to the score sheet finding the back of the net to give the 'Birds their second goal of the day.
The Bulldogs would add more six more unanswered goals taking a 15-2 lead to close the second.
Fresno State would score to open the third, but the Sunbirds on the next possession answered back with a goal from
Maddie Murad off the powerplay.
The remainder of the game would be all Bulldogs as they tallied seven more goals and held the Sunbirds scoreless to take the victory 23-3.
Fresno Pacific will look to bounce back tomorrow with a double header starting with a game against the Cal Tech Beavers at 10:00am and ending with the Azusa Pacific Cougars at 2:30pm at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.
