LA MIRADA, Calif.- Five victories in singles play helped pull out a nail-biting match that ended in a 5-2 win in for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (10-7 overall) against the Biola Eagles (6-11 overall) Friday afternoon at the Biola Tennis Courts.
The Sunbirds found themselves down quick after losing the doubles point with loses on courts 1 & 2.
Lea Falentin captured the first point of the day for the Sunbirds against Biola's PacWest Player of the Week Colbeyshae Emery.
Falentin quickly earned the win ending Emery's 3 game win streak in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Falentin has won 8 of her last 10 matches.
On court 6,
Daimy Paula issued a dominant performance securing the straight set victory 6-2, 6-1 over Biola's Amelia Kits.
Biola countered back evening the match score 2-2 with a win on court 2 in straight sets.
Audrey Ouellet got the next key win for the Sunbirds on court 3. Ouellet won in hard fought straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (2).
Sanne Brull delivered the match winning point for the Sunbirds on court 3. Brull won the critical first set tie breaker 7-4 to capture the first set 7-6. Brull followed that dominant first set performance with another and won in straight sets 7-6 (4), 6-3.
On court 5,
Elise Leik rounded out the Sunbirds stellar singles performance with a straight set victory 7-6 (3) , 6-4.
In their final match of the regular season, the Sunbirds will head up north for a match on Saturday at 2pm against Academy of Art.Â
