IRVINE, Calif.- A valiant start ultimately faded as the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds hung tough but ultimately lost 4-1 to the #47 Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles at the CUI Tennis Courts Thursday afternoon.
 
Doubles play started off strong with close matches on every court.
 
Concordia secured the first doubles victory quickly on court 3. 
Lea Falentin and 
Audrey Ouellet battled on court #1 losing 7-5 against Sophia Rachor and Heather Richards, who have only lost 6 matches together all year.
 
Court 2 was tied 5-5 when Concordia's win on court 1 sealed the doubles point.
 
On court 1, Falentin delivered a stellar performance winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 against Heather Richards in singles.
 
Falentin earns her 8
th win out of her last 10 matches to improve to 11-5 in #1 singles this season.
 
Despite the key first point, the Sunbirds were quickly overcome on courts 2, 4, and 6 to hand Concordia the victory.
 
The Sunbirds will look to bounce back on Friday as they travel across Orange County to La Mirada for another conference match at Biola at 2pm.
