FRESNO, Calif.-The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (9-6 overall) swept the Holy Names Hawks (2-15 overall) on Senior Day at the Haak Tennis Complex Monday morning.
Lea Falentin and
Audrey Ouellet secured the doubles point with a 6-0 victory after Holy Names had to forfeit the third doubles line due to a lack of healthy players.
Sanne Brull and
Daimy Paula also won their match 6-3 to secure the doubles sweep.
Fresno Pacific kept the momentum going heading into singles.
On court 1, Falentin continued to shine and battled to win the match 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 to be secure the first singles point.
Brull also made the most of her senior day and quickly picked up a point for FPU by winning her match in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
Paula and
Margarita Munoz kept the momentum rolling and sealed the match victory by winning in straight sets on courts 5 and 4.
The final match of the day came down Ouellet who won the first set 6-2 but had to battle back to win the third set tie breaker (10-3) after dropping the second set 6-7 (4).
It was a fitting end at home for the Sunbird seniors who ride out of Fresno in prime playoff position with a quality win.
Fresno Pacific will hit the road this weekend playing matches on three consecutive days against Concordia, Biola, and Academy of Art to close the regular season.
