FRESNO, Calif.-On the hottest day of the year, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (4-9 overall) sizzled in a 6-1 win over the Holy Names Hawks (1-11 overall) at the Haak Tennis Complex Monday afternoon.

Angel Espana started hot for the Sunbirds with a dominant 6-0 performance.

The deciding match for the doubles point came down to the #2 court where
Ben Cronau &
Sven Bangert battled to secure the single break of the match to win 6-4 capturing the Sunbirds the doubles point.

Martin Ramirez grabbed the early lead on court #3 and did not let go winning quickly in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

The Sunbirds continued to roll with wins by
Gregor Kliimask,
Brodie Sodersten, and Cronau in straight sets on courts 5, 2, and 1.

In the last match, the #4 singles position Senior
Joshua Wong battled in a third set but ultimately lost in a close third set tiebreaker.

Still, it was a strong showing for Fresno Pacific as they seek to improve their post-season positioning.

The Sunbirds will head out on the road for a pair of matches in Southern California against Concordia on Thursday and Biola on Friday.
