Sunbirds Close Home Schedule with Senior Day Win

FRESNO, Calif.-On the hottest day of the year, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (4-9 overall) sizzled in a 6-1 win over the Holy Names Hawks (1-11 overall) at the Haak Tennis Complex Monday afternoon.

The #3 doubles team Pablo Zubieta & Angel Espana started hot for the Sunbirds with a dominant 6-0 performance.

Holy Names countered back by winning on court 1.

The deciding match for the doubles point came down to the #2 court where Ben Cronau & Sven Bangert battled to secure the single break of the match to win 6-4 capturing the Sunbirds the doubles point.

Martin Ramirez grabbed the early lead on court #3 and did not let go winning quickly in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

The Sunbirds continued to roll with wins by Gregor Kliimask, Brodie Sodersten, and Cronau in straight sets on courts 5, 2, and 1.

In the last match, the #4 singles position Senior Joshua Wong battled in a third set but ultimately lost in a close third set tiebreaker.
