FRESNO, Calif.-Nayuma Subba won both of her matches against a top-75 opponent despite the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (2-3 overall) falling 6-1 to the Fresno State Bulldogs (5-5 overall) Thursday at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Subba and partner
Elise Leik won their doubles match on court no. 3, setting up a rubber match on court no. 2 for the point.
Despite dropping the doubles point to #75 Fresno State, the Sunbirds still brought plenty of fight with Subba leading the charge in singles.
Subba won her first set 6-4, while
Daimy Paula and
Sanne Brull both forced a tie-breaker.
But things wrapped up quickly as Subba won her match 6-2 and every match completing in straight sets.
The match was much-needed to help knock off the rust after weather messed with the schedule over the past two weeks.
Fresno Pacific returns to action on Saturday, hosting Dominican at 1:30 p.m. at the Haak Tennis Complex.
